SHREK THE MUSICAL, based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks film, brings the hilarious story of everyone’s favorite ogre, Shrek, to dazzling new life on the stage.
You know the story. Things get turned upside down when instead of a handsome prince rescuing the damsel in distress (Princess Fiona), it turns out to be an ugly ogre….with a bad attitude, and an extremely talkative Donkey (this character is one to see, believe me!)
The show is full of brand new songs (plus old favorites from the movie like “I’m a Believer”), lots of dancing and wonderful scenery to transport you to fairy-tale land. SHREK THE MUSICAL is romance, fairy tale and above all loads of fun for all the family (my daughter in particular loved it!).
The show is already getting rave reviews from both audiences and critics alike, it’s even been nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Musical and tickets are selling really fast.
Princess Fiona’s big showstopper, “Morning Person,” is fantastic, right out of the movie and ‘boy’ does she ever belt it out, Lord Farquaad’s “What’s Up Dulac,” a huge production number (maybe he’s over-compensating for his rather small stature!), with singing, dancing, and high-kicking, on his knees would you believe, is absolutely hilarious.
The cast all have extensive Broadway experience, some of them you’ll recognize from The Little Mermaid, The Wedding Singer, Grease! and many more.
The cast are in St Louis at the moment, but are touring all over the US so you’ll be able to catch them at a theater near you.
